Göttinger Literaturherbst | Reading: “The Collaborators” By Katrina Tuvera
Beyond Frankfurt Event
The story of the democratization of the Philippines is complex. This is exactly what Philippine author Katrina Tuvera shows in her novel The Collaborators. She focuses on a family in the late 1990s, when the entire nation followed the impeachment proceedings against the president. Father Carlos is in the hospital and begins to remember his childhood in the countryside during the war, the independence of the Philippines, the rise of Marcos and the military dictatorship, betrayal and adaptation, rebellion and submission. The author discusses this insightful novel about political entanglements and complicity with Cornelia Zetzsche. The event will include summarized translations from English into German.
