The Philippines, the guest country at the Book Palace, is the first book in the series. Lualhati Bautista (1945-2023) has inspired reflection on the role of women and the political situation in the country with her novels. Her clear, powerful writing style continues to inspire young female authors in the Philippines today. Beverly “Bebang” Siy, who wrote the afterword to this book, knew her personally. Publisher Annette Michael will be presenting the evening.
